Jamal Collins

I am Jamal. Although peace not withstanding, I am coming from an older place. Who I am is fluid and soft. I am much more use to the constraints of the physical, but I am moving into the virtual. The possibilities endless, and the sound wonderful.

Stanlow Crickets

(Philip Seifert) Instead of working with conventional sound and musical structures I have used only the sounds of birds to create these mixes on this compilation. All of the sounds were sampled birdsong & birdcalls from a variety of sources including the birdsong of North Cambridge to vinyl recordings of the 'Field Guide to Birdsong'. I've always been intrigued by the various timbres and spontaneous rhythmic patterns emitted by birds. The computer allows the birds to chirp and call on cue. paseifer@hotmail.com

Ilona Maki Hodsdon

A daughter of Finnish immigrants, known to have said, "I'm not getting older, just better, like a good bottle of wine." A musician, not technician, influenced by a wide range of artists, from John Coltrane and "A Love Supreme" to Tupac Shakur and "I Wonder If Heaven Has A Ghetto." Despising her suburban connections, she has chosen to imbibe of the flavors of urban America. Relentlessly fighting against conservatism and censorship in "christian" music, she has tried to broaden the flavor and add more "riskiness" to what is displayed in "christian" circles. Trying to dog being self-important, she tries at best to have a sense of both realism and fun in her music.

AG

AG is a self-made musician and dance enthusiast. He views music and dance as mediums that bring freedom, power, and love to the soul. He first fell in love with dancing in seventh grade at his first semi-formal. His date, needless to say, was too scared to "get into" the music the way he did and ditched him as soon as he "let loose." "When I let go of my mind and just let my body react to the music, some really awesome moves and expressions come out of it," says AG of his dancing. His music combines classic hip-hop, drum 'n' bass and tech-house to create a style of music that is unique in its presentation and an audible feast for the ears. His choreography and video work add a visual backdrop to his sound to help the listener interpret what is going on in a larger sense. Telling a story through moods and beats rather than words is AG's mark on the music industry, and his foothold into a bright and promising musical journey.

Renee McCauley

Renee is an independent artist, singer/songwriter, painter and poet. She weaves words with an ease and edge of spindoctor, but her sincerity allows the listener to feel and connect with the music on a spiritual and emotional level. Sitting at the foot of an old piano as a little girl while her sister practiced voice and music she developed her ear and a love for song. Later she would find her arms wrapped around a violin to bring classical melodies to life. These early influences of folk and beethoven formed a core which has been layered with world sounds, techno and rock'n roll. Four years ago after an intense" road experience " she began writing poetry which developed into songwriting. Music development is an ongoing education with mastering her electric Johnson guitar the forefront goal. A transplant from Texas, Renee brings a lot of her southern roots into the cadence of her songs. Her music makes you want to hug someone and call that friend your heart won't give up on. Living in a material world, but guided by the light of God is how she describes her life and her entrance into the land of music.

Michael Merriam

Michael is a music producer and audio engineer, working independently with local singer/songwriters and as a project manager for Fleetwood Multimedia in Lynn, MA. He enjoys writing, basketball, fruits and veggies, grilled cheese, Belgian waffles, running by the Charles, and espresso drinks, although the latter can sometimes induce alarming heart twitches or even dandruff. Michael's somewhat unfocused life ambition is to one day manage his own production company, incorporating music, film, spirituality, athleticism, and electricity. After all, without electricity, how could we ever be productive at 2 AM?
